Professional profile

Primary and secondary education in the German Schools in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Bilbao and the Middle School of La Laguna, Tenerife. He received his Law Degree at the University of La Laguna (1974), his Masters from the University of Valencia (1977), and completed various courses from 1977 and 1978 at the Fordham University of New York and at the New York University. He worked as a trainee and later became an associate at the New York Manhattan firm of Haight, Gardner, Poor and Havens. From 1980 to 1981 he was employed as an attorney in the H. J. Heinz Company, and as executive Vice-President of the Star Kist, Inc. in California.

He is a member of the Bar Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (number 772,1977), of the New York State Bar Association (since 1979) and of the Bar Association of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (number 1734, 1991).
